Summer Soccer Camp: Bringing Our Community Together Through the Game
On July 24th, 2026, we had the opportunity to bring our community together at La Puente High School for a special one-day free soccer camp. We welcomed 120 young players and their families, with the camp organized into three separate one-hour sessions for players ages 6–15. This format allowed us to tailor each session to the players’ age and ability level while keeping everyone engaged and active throughout the day.
Our biggest takeaway from the day wasn't just what happened on the field—it was seeing how many people and organizations came together to make this opportunity possible.
Creating Opportunities Through Soccer
Throughout the camp, our players participated in a variety of activities focused on developing their technical ability, footwork, coordination, and overall confidence with the ball. Our coaches created sessions that challenged the players while keeping the environment fun, energetic, and welcoming.
Most importantly, we wanted every player to leave the camp with a positive experience and a stronger connection to the game.
For us, events like this are about more than simply teaching soccer skills. We believe every young player deserves an opportunity to play, learn, and enjoy the sport, regardless of their circumstances. Seeing 120 players and their families come together reinforced why creating accessible opportunities in our community is so important.
Every Player Gets to Represent the 626
Thanks to Tio Charly and Charly, every player who attended received a custom 626 Futbl camp shirt.
Seeing all of the players on the field wearing the same shirt was a special moment for us. It represented more than just a jersey—it represented the community coming together around the game.
We were also excited to have Tio Charly provide 20 pairs of soccer cleats to players at the camp. Providing equipment is another important part of making soccer more accessible, and we were grateful to be able to put new cleats in the hands of players who could benefit from them.
A Special Guest: Martin “El Pulpo” Zúñiga
One of the biggest highlights of the day was welcoming Martin “El Pulpo” Zúñiga, a former Chivas and Mexican National Team player, as our special guest.
Having someone who reached the highest levels of the sport come out and spend time with our young players was an incredible experience. Opportunities to meet professional players can have a lasting impact on young athletes, especially when they get to see someone who once stood where they are now.
We were extremely grateful to Martin for taking the time to be part of our camp and inspire the next generation.
More Than Soccer
Another highlight of the day was being able to provide something for the entire community. Thanks to Bomberry, players and families were able to enjoy a special Acai Bowl giveaway during the event.
Moments like this might seem small, but they are exactly what make community events special. It wasn't just players showing up to train. Families came out, local organizations contributed, coaches volunteered their time, businesses supported the event, and everyone played a role in creating an experience for our youth.
That is what we hope to continue building through 626 Futbl: a community where everyone has a role in helping the next generation.

Building Something Together
When we look back at this camp, the number of players is something we're proud of, but what stands out even more is how the community came together to make it happen.
There are many young athletes who may not always have access to camps, equipment, or additional opportunities to play. Our goal is to continue finding ways to remove those barriers and create spaces where kids can simply come out and enjoy the game.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make July 29th possible. This camp was a true example of what can happen when a community believes in its youth and works together.
